TSAG History

TSAG’s history began in 1996 to develop, build and deliver core technical services to First Nation Communities in Alberta. On November 19, 1996 TSAG received its mandate from the Chiefs of Alberta at the Chiefs Summit V.

FNATSAG opened its doors in January 1998.

In 1996 the first Chiefs Steering Committee was formed and served by:
  • Chairman was Chief John Shirt, Saddle Lake First Nation
  • Chief Stanley Arcand, Alexander First Nation
  • Chief Paul Chiniquay, Chiniki First Nation
  • Chief Walter Janvier, Chipewyan Prairie First Nation
  • Chief James Ahnassay, Dene Tha’ First Nation
January 4th, 2000 Vaughn Paul joined TSAG as CEO.

TSAG was among the first organizations to focus on providing technical services and training for Alberta First Nations in the Treaty 6, Treaty 7, and Treaty 8 areas. TSAG specializes in housing, public works and community facilities, and environmental management. Today TSAG offers over 12 specialized programs and services to assist First Nation communities in achieving and maintaining high standards in all these specialized areas and it continues to strive for delivering better solutions with greater benefits, thereby providing community members with a solid foundation for healthy living.

TSAG’s success and growth over more than a decade of service is attributable to the hard work and dedication of the TGAS Staff, Chief’s Steering Committees, and Board of Directors, both past and present.
